A Nenju (prayer beads) made of 108 beads is the oldest and most traditional style all of the Nenju. The Nenju that we started to use from B.C was also having many beads and forming the loop like this. The number ‘108’ has very special meaning in Buddhism. It is said to express number of our worldly desires and also express existence of deities in Buddhism. In Japan, there are different style Nenju depending on the 8 sects in Buddhism, and they have each artistic beauty.
